The Fourteenth Fire Company

NIGHT WATCH OLD SCHOOL

On 31st July the regular volunteers got the night off at the 14th Fire Company as the night watch was taken over by the ‘Old School’ - volunteers of the 15-20 years service genera-tion. They kicked off the night with an exercise simulating a car rescue operation, where they dismantled a car using state-of-the-art technol-ogy for cutting through steel.

During their watch, they were called out twice: once to an incident of people trapped in a lift and a second time, at 5.30 in the morning, to a burning bus on the corner of Los Leones and Andrés Bello. What with the calls and staying up to reminisce about old times, the Old School volunteers didn’t get much sleep that night.
