News from the Editors of BCS' Webpage

1) SURVEY held by the BCS Webpage Editors for our readers:

  • On the 14th June we launched a very short Survey, prepared in Google Forms, which we asked our readers to complete. This was to help us to focus our News on what our Readers most appreciate and want to see. At the time of updating our Web-page (11th August) we closed our Survey after having received replies from only 38 of our Readers. We do especially thank those of you who took the trouble to answer.

  • Our Survey's RESULTS, in spite of the low response rate, were as follows:

  • 54% were in favour of the current Web-page presentation,

  • while 30% preferred the previous separate Newsletter sent by e-mail, and

  • the remaining 16% were not quite sure which method they preferred.

1) It was answered by 38 people (25 Males and 13 Females), of which 92% were in the 51 and over Age group.

2) The News items that Readers most preferred reading were: BCS News followed by General News and All News items.

3) Some Readers suggested adding the following News items:

  • Recipes - we have added a specific page but we do look forward to receiving your favourite recipes which you would like to share.

  • Cricket News and fixtures - we have already lined up a Cricket Correspondent and have brought you some news as Summer approaches.

  • News from other British societies/groups throughout Chile - we do periodically publish News from our Sister British Society of Viña and Valparaiso (e.g. their Caledonian Ball and other events).

4) We asked our Readers if they would like to contribute news items, etc. Some answered the following:

  • Recipes - please send us yours!!

  • Articles or Commentaries related to mining and development in Chile - we look forward to receiving any contributions you think would be of interest to our Readers.

  • Anything that would benefit people here from UK who are living here, e.g. process of applying for a driving license, applying for residency, contact names in the embassy, etc. (Editors' Note: a good place to ask for this information is under The Chile Experience Facebook page - see https://www.facebook.com/groups/thechileexperience/)

  • Articles and news from Valparaíso (we do publish these when received) and articles regarding 14th Fire Co. and ESU (ASM : we look forward to receiving these!)
