BCS' Chairman's letter to its Members & Supporters

Dear Member and Supporter,
With enthusiasm and dedication, the British Commonwealth Society (BCS) continues to work, covering the areas entrusted to it over many years, and encouraging the maintenance of the tradition with which it was founded. The Board has worked tirelessly raising funds to help those in need in our community. We also continue to administrate cemetery plots for the eventual use of our members, and recently we have put a lot of effort into promoting British culture and arts in the wider English-speaking community.
The BCS sees in the National Theatre Live (NTL) a great opportunity to make British culture available. We have now organised the screening of three magnificent theatre productions, in the High Definition film format, at Teatro Nescafé de las Artes (The Audience, War Horse and Hamlet). With a turnout of close to 500 at each event, we are extending our reach to English schools in Santiago. In 2017 we aim to work closer with the schools around the more “academic” productions that NTL offers (Shakespeare plays and others).
But the main area of our focus is that of assisting those in need. The English-speaking community has always looked after its members and we continue to do so today. This key task is funded partially by BCS asset investment returns and fund raising events but predominantly by donations from the community. We need and count on your donations, generously given, and I ask and encourage you help us in this worthy cause.
