Inauguration of the new Province of the Anglican Church in Chile

and Installation of Rev Hector (Tito) Zavala as the new Archbishop of Chile

This impressive service was held at The Grange School on Sunday, November 4th with the attendance of The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and the Primate of the Anglican Province of the South America, Archbishop Greg Venables.

Also present was Archbishop Paul Kwong, Chair of the Anglican Consultative Council and Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, General Secretary of the Anglican Communion, as well as Bishops and Pastors representing England, Ireland, USA, Australia, Singapore, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay and Panama and of course, Chile. The congregation numbered more than 700 people and it was followed by a lunch reception during which the visitors from abroad shared greetings and presented gifts from their countries.

We would like to congratulate Archbishop Tito Zavala for his important new role in the new Province, which starts out with four diocese: Santiago, Valparaíso, Temuco and Punta Arenas and the hopes of new dioceses in the near future.
